When I was policing events and things, the biggest flying object I could call on was a Pilatus/Brittan Norman `Islander` .

Now this is what I call an air support unit

Yes.

This rather bizarre show of strength is all about saying "we did everything we could" when things go properly wrong during the opening ceremony, innit?

What about getting a Harley washed up on the beach?

Blue: On the head, sir!

Conan: I think they'll name the next model the "Wet Boy" :))

I'd love to be able to call one of them up (or the American equivlent) when in a pursuit...
"L1 to dispatch, can you have the air unit fire a warning burst of 20 mm in front of the suspect's vehicle after then next turn?"

CI-RD: :) I was once in the middle of a big dust-up with me and my team, a mere 4 officers, facing an violent mob of 100+. Control room asked me if needed anything else? I asked them to take down a grid and arrange an air-strike. I got a bollocking for that comment.

Oh well, I suppose something like a WE177 will reduce the terrorist threat. I think Harriers would be more useful. Oh, ah...
