Who Ya Gonna Call.....?

My spies tell me that a new chief constable in the North of England, somewhere, has set one of his first vital tasks to his force - to come up with a new slogan - nice one Guv. After the grilling that former assistant chief constable Tew got from the Leicester Coroner last week, I understand that the favourite slogan on the `canteen consultancy` list was: "Northernshire Police - Better Than Nothing?". Glad to see that at least the troops haven't lost their sense of barbed, ironic humour amid the excrutiating information emerging from that coroners court. (See the above link for a taste of senior managementspeak).

Northernshire - Getting our priorities right

Northernshire - Well someone has to move those deckchairs!

HD for CC!

I thought the minutes of the SMT meeting that I linked, were priceless examples of non-meaningful-seniorpolicemanagement-speak. That is just the sort of claptrap that permeated the system that I used to move in - ugh!

How about something thats at least honest, like "this is just another meaningless slogan." ?

I'm starting to understand why Brit Police are such an entertaining read.
Bitter confusion makes for some great material.

PG: "To Serve and Protect" was quite succinct but not adopted over here. I expect it is just way to twee and not within the Governments or Police Command Teams vocabulary, inclination or ability - other than if one added one final word....`themselves`....then they'd go for it.

NickieG: Never in the field of modern policing, has a workforce been so willing, yet so hamstrung with bureaucracy, form-filling and a glut of unnecessary procedures, all in the name of serving a stats machine in Whitehall.....but we're singin' a haaaapy song.....
